Survival of the Most Cooperative
Hebrews 13:6
“So we may boldly say: 'The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
"Survival of the fittest" is an essential principle of evolution. This principle has not only been applied to animals, but also to human beings, as a social theory. Scientists, however, are learning...

Evolution's Mistakes

Dinogoose

Genesis 1:25
“And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”

Fossil bones in rockAn article in the Los Angeles Times about a recent fossil find began:

If it walks like a duck and swims like a duck, it might be a dinosaur.

Scientific Proof

1 Timothy 6:20
“O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called.”.

Diagram of radio wave patternsDuring a radio interview on the BBC, Richard Dawkins once said, “The view that all living organisms have a common ancestor, from which they have evolved, is the correct one.” Statements like these often intimidate the layman into thinking that certain ideas in science, such as evolution, must have been proven beyond all reasonable doubt.

"Darwin's Finches" - No Proof of Evolution

Genesis 1:21
“So God created . . . every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. “

Illustration: Darwin’s finches. (PD)During his visit to the Galapagos Islands Charles Darwin saw that each island was populated by a little finch. These birds were all very similar, yet from one island to another there were some differences in the size and shape of the beak.

Does Our Blood Prove Evolution?

Ephesians 2:13
“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been made near by the blood of Christ.”

Photo: A unit of fresh frozen blood plasmaOne of the early evidences for evolution, at one time found in almost every school textbook, was based upon the salt content of human blood plasma and the salt content of the sea. Professor Macallum of the University of Toronto began with the assumption that life on earth began in the sea and that the first land creatures had retained that sea salt concentration in their blood.

Evolution of New Species?

Genesis 1:21
“And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”

Femal resident Finch from DaphneIt was Charles Darwin’s assumption that new species arose from previous ones by a process of natural selection. Darwin famously illustrated this point by reference to the various species of finch living on the Galapagos Islands.

Human Evolution in Bits

Psalm 8:4
“What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?”

Caveman wax statueIt was the late Stephen J. Gould who popularized the idea of Evolution by Punctuated Equilibrium. This was because he noticed the lack of transitional forms in the fossil record, which is so obvious to those who want to see. Yet, as a committed evolutionist, Gould could not bring himself to the natural corollary of his ideas – that the theory of evolution is just not tenable.

IDA and LUCA

Genesis 1:1
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

DiagramIn the beginning was Ida, the initial Darwinian ancestor – the first material on Earth to transform from inert to, well, ert. Ida begat Luca, the last universal common ancestor, and the molecule that gave rise to every kind of life on Earth, from lowly bacteria to the giant panda.

Cavemen at the Crossroads

Genesis 11:8-9
“So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.”

SkullAccounts of the supposed evolution of human beings read like the modern equivalent of fairy stories. These intricate fables often seem to mask the inability to reject evolutionary theories when they come up against unfortunate or difficult facts.

The Humanity of Neanderthals

Ecclesiastes 3:21
“Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?”

Human SkullIn 1957, a dead Neanderthal man was discovered with nine other skeletons in Shanidar Cave in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. This particular Neanderthal Man had serious injuries, probably inflicted by other people. Police are looking for a 50,000-year-old murderer.

There's Glory for You!

Matthew 5:37
“But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.”

Image: Alice and Humpty Dumpty talking. "There's glory for you!" said Humpty Dumpty.

"I don't know what you mean by 'glory'" Alice said.

Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. "Of course you don't – till I tell you. I meant 'there's a nice knock-down argument for you!"

"But 'glory' doesn't mean 'a nice knock-down argument,'" Alice objected.

A Snowball's Chance

Job 38:22-23
“Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail, which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?”

Image: GlaciaWe are all familiar with the concept of the Ice Age – probably due to the eponymous cartoon feature film series. Evolutionists believe that this event took place about 2.6 million years ago. There is considerable evidence around the world of valleys carved by glaciation, and glacial moraines – deposits of rocky debris left at the end of glaciers.

Careless Words

2 Timothy 1:13
“Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.”

Image: Chart of the evolution of manThe apostle Paul told Timothy that he should “hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me”. Words are very important, and it is very easy to miscommunicate by using the wrong words. For example, I was a teacher in government schools in England and Wales for many years and well used to teaching students the science national curriculum.

Roosting Dinosaurs

Genesis 1:20
“And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.”

Image: Drawing of Oviraptor skeleton.Current evolutionary thought suggests, as most people are aware, that birds evolved from therapod dinosaurs. Therefore, evolutionary scientists must find their evidence, not only for the evolution of the skeletal structure of birds and features such as feathers, but many other behavioral characteristics.

Just So

Romans 1:25
“Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.”

Image: Rudyard KiplingI used to love it when my elementary school teacher read stories to the class. She had some favorite stories. One of her favorite collections was Rudyard Kipling’s Just So Stories. The idea of each story was to give a fictional account of how certain features of various animals came to be. Of course, Kipling was not presenting a scientific thesis. He expected his stories to be received as works of imagination.

Evolving Computer Code

Genesis 11:1
“And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.”

Image: Data on a computer screenSome years ago, a major international software company took out some commercials on British television. The theme of the commercials was that their software was now better than it had ever been because it had evolved. The commercials showed images of dinosaurs and so-called primitive animals as they evolved into more modern, up-to-date varieties.

Discovery at Piltdown

Genesis 1:26
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”

Image: Illustration of a primative manIt must have been a very exciting meeting of the Geological Society of London in December 1912. Charles Dawson was presenting a paper concerning a skull that he said had been found at a gravel pit in Sussex, England. The skull appeared to be half human half ape. The prevailing opinion of the time, as it is today, was that apes and humans had a common ancestor from which they had all evolved.

Does It Look Old?

Deuteronomy 33:15
And for the chief things of the ancient mountains, and for the precious things of the lasting hills.

One lady who approached me after one of my presentations said, “God made the Earth 10,000 years ago, but he made it look like it was millions of years old.”

Evolution by Euphemism

Ephesians 5:6
"Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience."

In my book Where Birds Eat Horses, I talk about the way that evolutionists use, or rather misuse, language in order to make their case. One type of language much loved by evolutionists is what we call “fuzzy words”.

Volcanoes Opened Jurassic Park?

Psalm 104:32
"He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke."

It was, they say, the “Great Dying” – supposedly 250 million years ago. 57% of all land-dwelling vertebrates became extinct. Yet, amidst the death and destruction of this event, a new group of animals arose. We call them the dinosaurs.

How Nature Selects

Genesis 1:24
“And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.”

Evolutionists often use a language all of their own. Frequently that language involves reification. Reification is a logical fallacy whereby an abstract concept is treated as if it were something real or concrete. Evolutionists frequently refer to selection of  Pictures of different dog breedsgenetic information by nature – the so-called Natural Selection. Nature is an abstract concept.
